Increased War Veteran Grant Payments 2025
SASSA increased all permanent grants including War Veteran grants on October 2025. The War Veterans Grant went up to R2,335 each month. Before this change it was R2,205 at the start of 2025. These payments usually change once or twice a year based on inflation and price increases. Anyone who got approved for the War Veteran Grant before or during 2025 will receive R2335 monthly as agreed with SASSA.

Eligibility Rules for War Veteran Grant 2025
– Requirements for the 2025 War Veteran Grant Military Service You must have fought in World War 2 (1939-1945) or the Korean War (1950-1953).
– Basic Requirements You need to be over 60 years old or have a disability that stops you from working.
– You must be a South African citizen or have permanent residency papers.
– Money & Property Rules We will check your income and what you own.
– If you’re single your yearly income must be less than R86280.00. We also look at what you own but we don’t count the house you live in.
– For married people we look at both you and your partner’s money and property together.
– The house you live in doesn’t count as long as either you or your partner owns it. We will check all these things before giving you the grant.

How to Apply and Receive War Veteran Payments
How to Apply
– You need to go to your closest SASSA office to apply.
– You must bring all the needed papers with you.
– These include proof that you served in the war and your ID document.
You also need to show your money records. If the office asks for them you must bring medical papers too. If you can’t go to the SASSA office because you are sick or disabled someone else can apply for you. You can also ask SASSA to visit you at home. This makes it easier for people who cannot travel to the office.
Processing Time & Start Date
– It takes about three months for us to review your application.

Payment Schedule
– War Veteran Grant is paid out at the start of each month. This happens at the same time as other regular grants.

Changes to Your Benefits
– Your benefits may stop if your situation changes. This includes getting more money or having more savings. It can also happen if you don’t answer our review questions.
