The Johannesburg office of SASSA has closed down for now after eight workers were caught doing fraud. The office stopped working on Monday September 15 2025 and will stay closed until things get sorted out. These eight people went to court in Lenasia to face fraud charges.

They can’t work right now while SASSA looks into what happened.
SASSA told everyone this is just for a short time and they want to get the office working again soon.
Sassa wants to fix their problems & make things better. They plan to deal with delayed cases and stop people from cheating the system.
They also want people to trust them again. The office said they need to get the Johannesburg branch working properly. They want to catch up on old work & make sure no one breaks the rules.
To help people who need their services Sassa opened new places to serve them. They moved their workers to three different spots: Westbury Clinic, South Hills Community Hall and Cosmo City Multipurpose Centre.
These places will open at different times. The head of Sassa Mr. Themba Matlou made it clear that they won’t accept any dishonest behavior from their workers.
“We need to hold everyone responsible for what they did,” said Matlou.

He knew the office closure was a problem but said they had to do it. “We don’t like that the office is closed for now. But we are working on ways to help our people,” he said.
